BritishVolt, leading battery cell manufacturer set to accelerate the electrification of society, has joined Made in Group’s mission to Back Britain. Head of manufacturing Christopher Davison gave a powerful speech at the Backing Britain launch events in April 2022 and continues to support the campaign as it plays a major part in Britain becoming net-zero.

The Backing Britain campaign from Made in Group was created to help UK manufacturers take further steps towards their journey to net-zero. As aptly put by BritishVolt themselves “the race to net-zero is imperative for society”, and with the manufacturing sector making up for 23% of the UK economy, Made in Group believes it is vital for manufacturers to be given support and guidance.

Made in Group has over 450 manufacturing members, based in the Midlands and Yorkshire, from the likes of Jaguar Landrover, Kuka Robotics and Schneider Electric. The latest and longest running campaign Backing Britain saw support for manufacturers back in 2020 with the launch of the first online exhibition, giving the sector a platform to promote themselves in an innovative digital format. This included a 3D interactive stand where visitors could chat live to team members. As well as online talks from industry leaders such as Andy Palmer, former CEO of Aston Martin, Richard Franklin, MD of Airbus UK, and more.

This year the Made in Group set the bar even higher by giving manufacturing exhibitors the opportunity to showcase their facilities via digital twins. The organisation travelled to various manufacturing plants to capture 3D scans so UK businesses could immerse visitors into their capabilities. This was accompanied by three live networking events in Walsall, Derby and Leeds where industry leaders could transport their peers to their businesses via digital screens dotted around the room.

BritishVolt were happy to support the initiative to encourage manufacturers in their pursuit to net-zero as leaders in battery cell production. The company recently opened the first gigafactory in the UK based in Northumberland with their HQ based in the heartland of the UK automotive industry - the Midlands. Christopher said:

"For Britishvolt Backing Britain means bringing jobs back to the UK and to make sustainable battery manufacturing becuase batteries are our future"
