So far, over 110+ members of Made in Group have confirmed their exhibitor status for Backing Britain 3.0 - a hybrid event, featuring live events at first-class locations and industry-leading speakers, alongside a digital expo.

For the digital exhibition aspect of Backing Britain 3.0, Made in Group is currently sending over members of staff to companies within the membership who are taking part in the expo, and help them to film an area of their factory, a certain machine or product, etc, and then this will become a key aspect of their virtual stand. These virtual stands won’t only be available over the course of the three-day expo, but these will then be available for members to use all year round as a sales tool, forming part of a brand new virtual manufacturing directory, which will continue seamlessly once Backing Britain 3.0 has concluded in April 2022.

Each exhibitor will be able to showcase a piece of their equipment, or a section of their premesis, using Matterport's 3D walkaround technology (and optionally VR headsets).Through using Matterport cameras and technology, this will allow expo visitors at Backing Britain 3.0 to visit members’ premises using 360° immersive features and (optionally) VR headsets. As you may have seen through the likes of online walkarounds of venues and virtual house-tours, Matterport cameras allow for someone to click and walk around a venue; which makes it the perfect sales tool for our members to showcase a particular product, machine, or even a large segment of their entire factory.

The digital twins will also enable manufacturing companies to remove geographic boundaries and explain how their factory works with spatial awareness. Digital twins are essential to any smart factory, complement existing industry 4 strategies and can be updated as the business invests and updates its facility. Ultimately, Backing Britain 3.0 aims to give members the tools to sell in a post-covid world with engaging 3D content, whilst helping them reduce their carbon footprint - as the world’s governments look to them to become net-zero by 2050.

Looking at the in-person aspect, there will be networking events at Derby, Wolverhampton and Leeds. There will be 3 celebrity speakers and 3 industry speakers in total at these events,, with one of each at every one of these in-person "fringe" events. So far, industry thought leaders and celebrity speakers Robert Llewellyn and Felicity Aston have been confirmed as keynote speakers - with the remaining 4 speakers yet to be confirmed (so watch this space!).

Backing Britain 3.0 is officially taking place from April 26th-28th 2020, however, access to members stands and their "digital twin" will be available 365 days a year following this, providing a fantastic sales and company promotion opportunity for members of Made in Group.
