The Made in Group, including Made in the Midlands and Made in Yorkshire, hosted their first annual Summer Drinks event since 2019 on Thursday 30th June 2022. Over 40 members of Made in the Midlands gathered at Cosmo Bonsor in Wolverhampton to network with fellow members old and new. A roundtable discussion was also held earlier in the day on  ‘Family Run Businesses in Manufacturing.’

The Summer Drinks networking event took place from 4:30 pm - 7:30pm and saw Midlands members having a great time catching up and connecting. The Made in Group has recently introduced new members to the community, including Frost Electroplating and Ineco, who attended last night's celebrations.

The first roundtable discussion of 2022 took place earlier that day too. 12 members of Made in the Midlands took part in a conversation on family owned businesses. It was insightful to hear the variety of stories of how current manufacturing leaders acquired their businesses through their families, and the next steps to pass the business on. Whilst stories differed, a sense of community and familiarity was created amongst the members who all work in a family owned business.

Jason Pitt, CEO of Made in Group, held a speech during the event which entailed the group’s plans for more face to face networking events going forward. The events will also be combined with round table discussions on relevant topics within the manufacturing industry. Following Jason’s speech, Lord Mike Whitby, Chairman of the Made in Group, spoke to members about the political landscape in regards to the manufacturing sector which particularly focused on the ongoing challenges in Ukraine and the rise in Fuel prices.
