The Backing Britain 3.0 exhibition launched today, the third exhibition of its kind from the Made in Group. The first Backing Britain exhibition launched in 2020, the second in 2021 - a careers fair exhibition under the name of Made Futures and finally Backing Britain 3.0 - The first hybrid exhibition from Made in Group. This year's expo also includes three live networking events for exhibitors and VIPS in Walsall, Derby, and Leeds - 3 key locations for members of Made in the Midlands and Made in Yorkshire. Today, Tuesday 26th April, saw the launch event in Walsall where over 100 industry professionals were in attendance.

What makes Backing Britain exhibitions stand out from regular trade shows is the fact that it is hosted online. Exclusively for manufacturers and businesses alike, members of Made in the Midlands and Made in Yorkshire.

This year’s launch was no different with plenty of buzz online and on social media from exhibiting businesses sharing their excitement for the expo’s latest features. Each exhibiting member has been offered a 3D tour scan of their manufacturing facility creating an additional layer of how visitors can interact with the stand, including chatting live with team members and accessing an array of content to discover more about businesses.

What makes this year's event like no other is the three live networking events in key locations for Made members. The chance to look around the exhibition via large digital screens in the room also includes speeches from top industry professionals who set out to discuss the net-zero agenda - in conjunction with low carbon, online exhibition.

Walsall saw a positive buzz throughout the venue with over 100 member manufacturers and VIP industry professionals in attendance. Guests heard from industry-leading speakers Graham Davidson, a Manufacturing and Engineering Industrial architect from Airbus who discussed the role of an architect at airbus - providing co-design for future products, in particular for aircraft and design of industrial systems. They also heard from famous actor and comedian Robert Llewellyn who shared his passion for British Manufacturing and Engineering. The final speaker of the evening was Christopher Davison Head of Project Manufacturing at Bristihvolt who shared the company's plans for the first Gigafactory in the UK.

Guests poured in from 4:30 pm at Walsall FC/ and were welcomed by the opportunity to make a net-zero pledge. This saw manufacturing and engineering professionals sign a badge that was pinned on the net-zero pledge tower to show their commitment to three statements:

  • To learn more about sustainability
  • To implement what you learn into your business
  • Commit to sharing best practices with fellow Made members

For every pledge made and social media post created, Made in Group will donate £15 to the National Trust to plant more trees around the UK. The evening finished with lots of networking and discussions amongst manufacturing professionals, not forgetting refreshments.
