As part of the Made in Group pledge to support the sector, an additional virtual exhibition has been added to the 2021 calendar. The Made team are working hard to develop and add a new feature that allows members to add job opportunities to their microsite.
This initiative launched by Made in Group - which includes Made in the Midlands and Made in yorkshire - aims to create 1000 new jobs in 2021. The one-week virtual exhibition will take place on the 22nd to the 26th March 2021.
The jobs module allows members to post job openings to their microsite and at the same time add to our jobs board of which is aggregated from jobs posted by our 500+ members.
This new feature is a democratised way of solving some of the issues around recruitment in the manufacturing sector.
CEO of Made in Group, Jason Pitt, has said, “As an experienced trade show organiser we were faced with a unique challenge during 2020, our main event was cancelled, and we decided to build our own digital show from the ground up, the virtual expo is added onto our existing Made platform so in many ways we had an advantageous start, but it was still an immense achievement form the developers who worked on this project."
“We decided to use this technology and improve it to host our second big virtual event, this time to back jobs and skills. There is no doubt that the number one challenge we face is a jobs crisis and the risk of losing a generation of talent. In a society where a large number of people are not participating then that becomes a fertile breeding ground for all of the negative aspects that inequality, poverty and job insecurity bring."
"The Made Futures careers week is a proactive approach to rebalancing the skills dilemma, Jason said, “In many cultures, young people are told to be doctors or lawyers, in other cultures it's to follow your dreams, we are saying become an engineer. There has never been a better time to encourage more people to look at the sector and get excited about a career in manufacturing. We want to showcase the best of what industry is doing and engage with people so that they are better informed."
Although Made Futures has a vital element of focus on younger people, it is by no means restricted by age group; the event aims to draw people in from all age demographics, from older people who are looking for new opportunities or to reskill.
The event will also feature the following:
- Career Panels
- Mock Interviews
- Employability Workshops
- CV Writing
- Inclusivity Workshop
- Mental Health Resilience Workshop
- Keynote Seminars
- + MORE TO BE ANNOUNCED
