After the Government’s announcement on Sunday, many businesses are looking to get back to work this week. However with social distancing measures still in place, one of the concerns from the Mastermind group was that Sales Representatives will need to address new ways of working. They also spoke about reshoring business back to the UK and seeing an increase in productivity regarding those working from home.
Over the next few months, The Made in Group will hold 8 Masterminds sessions to be held every fortnight. This will see members come together to discuss current issues within the industry and how we can tackle these problems. Each session will see the group discuss 2 challenges within the industry along with brainstorming how they can be changed.
Today’s session included Jason Pitt and Charles Addison from the Made in Group, Jamie White from Exactaform, Nikki Crossland from QI Performance, Daren Lightwood from Alwayse Engineering, and Charles Boneham from Boneham & Turner.
Firstly addressing issues discussed last week, it was highlighted that the member's main concerns were getting staff back to work and needing help with a return to work manufacturing strategy - introducing a new way of working.
However today, the group focused on how they can encourage their sales representatives, particularly, to use applications such as video conferencing to forge relationships with customers. For many salespeople, meeting people face to face is the most comfortable and effective way of selling their product or service. Nonetheless, meeting with people face to face can take up valuable time.
Therefore the group is looking to encourage sales reps to see what they can do during this time rather than concentrating on the current climate. To do this, they could brainstorm with salespeople who have effectively sold via video conferencing. This could help change the mindset and increase productivity with being able to hold numerous meetings in one day.
Other points mentioned into today’s session saw the group discuss the opportunities in reshoring business when it comes to exporting.
