Digital Leaders
In terms of online presence, the Made Group is unrivalled in this space; the manufacturing sector now has a realistic chance of getting some traction in creating an extensive social network for engineering; we have developed something unique that works. If Britain's industrial base had a dedicated social network built in the UK and used by industry, it would be far more helpful than a Twitter-type app. Elon Musk is busy trying to back out of Twitter, and I don't blame him; what would you rather have a Rolodex of engineers or a Rolodex of online trolls?
Even now, Europe has never created a successful social media platform; Google, Facebook, TikTok, and others are additional taxes placed on companies. Google employs a mere 5,000 people in the UK; revenue extracted directly and indirectly could be much higher than the declared turnover. According to Google, the business has a declared turnover in the UK of approx 1.8b; however, in a 2016 declaration of UK turnover, MJH Accountancy put the figure at 9% of turnover, which would be considerably higher than the headline numbers.
The industry has been crying out for a platform like Made. The current SEO cowboy industry needs a reset; with online bots and content that chases algorithms rather than trying to be valid, it's only a matter of time before new companies enter the market and challenge this.
I've also considered the question; why have the UK and Europe never created a social media giant?
'Crab Mentality', for those familiar with the term but not the meaning, refers to a little-known experiment whereby crabs in a bucket would pull each other down to prevent other crabs from escaping and therefore ensuring their collective demise. Every company that intends to make waves or any society that wants to survive challenging times must overcome this evolutionary sabotage.
Let's work together and cheer each other on; it's the perfect antidote to the 'doom-scrolling' offered by the social media giants.
We are helping manufacturers grow and prosper by building the largest online community for British manufacturers.
New developments
New platform developments will include a unique front-end design, better functionality of the member search directory and a new user dashboard with greater detail and a cleaner user interface.
Make sure you try out the new microsite and microsite editor.
